A first class British education in The Middle East

The most common questions we encounter when meeting families who are new to the UAE are:

"Will our children get the same quality of education they have been receiving back home?"

And

“When we need to return home, will our children be up to standard and equipped to get into the schools of our choice, despite strong competition?”

Expatriate families naturally ‘do the rounds’ of schools here in the UAE before choosing the best for their children. According to their location they will see franchises of highly reputable British schools that replicate the original British institution; wholly international schools; and variations in between.

Kings’ Schools are a little different. They are designed, staffed and managed for their situation here in the UAE for British, local and other expatriate students who seek the National Curriculum and Foundation Stage Curriculum for England. Our schools maintain a strong British heritage, whilst offering a relevant international flavour. We believe that rather than taking a little piece of the British Isles and trying to replicate it here; it is our duty to maintain “Britishness” whilst designing our schools and the curriculum to absorb the Middle East setting and the international nature of the UAE, being sensitive to the local contexts.

Over the past 10 years since we opened Kings’ School Dubai, our first school in Umm Suqeim, this premise has worked extremely well for us. We have been able to confidently show families who are interested in a Kings’ education that it is possible to maintain consistently high academic standards that hugely exceed UK national averages. We speak of “achieving results the right way.” To these ends our track record has been remarkable. Kings’ Dubai, our founding school is the only school in the Emirate to have achieved the rating of outstanding since inspections began in Dubai. Annually, we have been professionally challenged on all fronts by the rigorous inspection regime of the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau and this year we have also been inspected by British Schools Overseas (BSO) to match our practice to UK government criteria for high quality British education. Kings’ Dubai is also endorsed by British Schools in the Middle East (BSME).

Our two new schools Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba and Kings’ School Al Barsha represent the next generation in terms of future proof school design. At the same time, they are firmly based on the same Kings’ key principles for teaching and learning.

We are used to fairly transient school populations. The track record of our expatriate students when they return to schools in the UK or their home country is excellent. Despite the fact that we now have our own secondary school, we still prepare students for Common Entrance with notable success. Former Kings’ students have moved on to some of the UK’s finest public schools.

Key to offering a first class British education at Kings’ Schools has been the inspiration of our Chairman, an Emirati visionary. Some 15 years ago began to realise a lifelong ambition to build schools that are home grown in the UAE, combining the warmth of the local community with the world class standards of a private, British education set in the international context of the United Arab Emirates.

Kings’ Schools take their strength from the very best of British education, while offering a curriculum and whole school experience to young people, living and growing in Dubai. Our success is also fuelled by our deep commitment to employing highly qualified and experienced staff from the UK, combined with exceptional leadership that is supported by advanced information and communications technologies that ensure that our schools are centres of cutting edge educational distinction. As a group we invest heavily in the selection and induction of our teachers and continuous professional development of all teachers and learning support staff. Our Headteachers and senior leaders are expert in promoting outstanding teaching and learning.

Kings’ students achieve the very highest of academic standards via creative and innovative approaches to curriculum design and teaching and learning that often break from tradition. Our holistic approach to education gives rise to well educated, polite, highly skilled, confident, balanced, well equipped and open minded individuals who are ready to go out and take their place in the world either back in the UK, in their home country, here in the UAE or elsewhere.

Our founding edict, “the best by every child”, guides us all to ensure that Kings’ students receive a first class, British education that is relevant to the context of the UAE.
