APPEARANCE
Jewellery
Girls are permitted to wear one pair of small stud earrings only, and these must be removed for all PE and swimming lessons. Boys and girls may wear watches with a simple design, as long as they are clearly named. They must also be removed for all PE and swimming lessons. No other form of jewellery is permitted at school.
Hair styles
If a hair style is designed to draw attention to itself, because of its length, colour, shape, etc., it is unlikely to be acceptable. Boys’ and girls’ hair must be neat and tidy at all times. Girls with long hair must wear it tied back for school, in a bunch with a navy or tartan bobble, scrunchie or hairband. Plain clips may also be worn.
Make-up, nail varnish and temporary tattoos
Make-up and temporary tattoos are not permitted in school. Secondary school girls may wear skin-coloured or clear nail varnish; nail varnish is not permitted in primary school. Children with coloured nail varnish will be asked to remove it.
Mobile phones
Primary school pupils should not bring mobile phones or other valuable personal items to school. Secondary school students are encouraged to bring a mobile phone to communicate with parents before and after the school day. However, during the school day, mobiles must be turned off or on silent and kept in students’ lockers.
The school cannot be held responsible for any loss of or damage to personal possessions.
