Getting Started

Airport Arrangements
If your temporary visa has arrived, this has been emailed to you already. If you have not received this do not panic – you can still enter Dubai on a visit visa.
For those of you who have had a flight booked by Kings’, members of the Leadership Team will warmly welcome you in airport arrivals.

Before you leave
If it has been processed in time, you will receive your temporary work visa via email. Print this out and bring it to the airport with you. If you do not receive it, don’t panic. You will enter Dubai on a visit visa until your working visa has been completed. It is mandatory to purchase travel insurance with adequate medical cover for Dubai for the first 6 to 8 weeks whilst we are processing your medical insurance cover. Although not commonplace among expats, once in Dubai we would recommend purchasing home insurance too.

Arriving in Dubai and at the airport
Depending on what time you arrive, be prepared for a wait at customs – but it will be worth it. Dubai Airport is now the second busiest in the world and it shows. Present the usual documents at passport control (with your visa if you have it) and they will help you through the process. It usually involves an eye scan and various stamps going into your passport.

After you have collected your bags, leave the baggage claim area and head towards the exit. Somewhere near the exit will be a group of smiling faces (also known as the Leadership Team) who will meet and greet you. Transportation from the airport to your accommodation will be organised. You may end up sharing a taxi or minibus with your new colleagues and those living in your building. At your accommodation, a member of staff will be on hand for any last-minute questions.

… and beyond the first 24!

Transport to school
In the first week, this is organised by the school. After the first week, you will need to source your own transport. Depending on where you are located will depend on what your preferences might be. Taxis are cheap and frequent. Car hire is reasonable and details will be provided during the first week of induction. Remember, there will be many others in the same situation and car sharing is a great option to not only save money but get to know others.

SIM Cards etc.
Part of the induction week includes information about getting a SIM card or other facilities you may wish to sign up for, including TV and internet packages.

School Induction
Our main aim for the induction week is to get you acclimatised to your new home and school. The first week is dedicated to new starters and in the second week, you will be joined by existing staff.
