Visa and Emirates ID

Important Update: Residence Visa and Medical Insurance

The visa process can be somewhat lengthy and comes in conjunction with medical insurance arrangements. It could take around 6 to 8 weeks until your residence visa and company medical process is complete.

Please arrange individual insurance for a minimum of 12 weeks and for those with families, please also arrange medical cover for any dependents accompanying you.

Your employment and resident visa will be processed by the School. You will be contacted by Kings’ HR and the Government Relations departments before you join. Kings’ will cover the cost of the employee visa, however, the cost of the Emirates ID card will need to be covered by the employee and these costs will be communicated by the Government Relations Manager at the commencement of the visa process.

To commence onboarding, please upload scans (not photographs) of the following documents to WebHR:

  • HR profile form and signed offer letter
  • Attested copy of your education certificate and transcripts
  • Copy of your passport
  • Passport-sized photo with white background
  • CV
  • Copy of valid Police Check local to your current place of residence and work. For UAE police certificates these are valid for 3 months only, thus we would suggest applying mid May. Please note that if you reside in the UK, you will need to apply for an enhanced DBS and/or an International Child Protection Certificate (ICPC) obtained through the Criminal Record Office (ACRO), with at least 3 months validity on arrival in Dubai.

– My resume: please populate with your personal information.

This will form your employment profile with Kings’ and you will have full WebHR access once your contract has commenced. WebHR is an incredibly useful system whereby you can read policies, request HR letters, view payslips and manage leave.

Degree, PGCE and QTS certificates attestation (whichever applicable)

For education certificates issued in the UK these will need to be: attested by a UK solicitor or notary public, legalised by the FCO, attested by the UAE Embassy in London and finally attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE (please note that the UAE Embassy in London and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE are two separate institutions, in two different countries)

Please contact an attestation company for assistance. The following companies  have both UK/UAE offices, please do feel free to shop around for the best rates as these are just some examples of many:

Attestations fees are a personal cost as it is a local government and KHDA (education authority) requirement for visa and teacher licensing processes.

Once the full attestation is complete, please upload copies of your attested certificates as we will require these for your employment visa application. Please arrange for original certificates to be returned directly to you as the Schools do not hold personal documents.

The visa process is managed by the government relations team and will begin later on this academic year.

For any certificates issued outside of the UK, the process will vary, please consult an attestation service.

Additional document attestation for those with families

Kings’ arrange staff visas only, should you wish to sponsor your married partners or children you will also need to arrange the attestation of your marriage certificate and children’s birth certificates. Please note that it is not possible to sponsor an unmarried partner.

As the summer approaches and we have a clearer understanding of the documentation required for travel to the UAE, we will update all new staff by email so that you have time to prepare.
