Welcome

Welcome to Primary:

Dear new teachers,

My name is Lilia and I am extremely proud to be a student at Kings’ School Al Barsha. I feel privileged to have been chosen as this year’s Head Girl as it has given me the opportunity to develop my leadership skills and showcase the qualities my teachers have instilled in me. Being part of the Kings’ community that has supported me since FS and contributed to the person I am today makes me feel proud . For me, the thing that makes Kings’ so wonderful is the variety of activities you can join to enhance your hobbies and At the same time help you make new friends along the way. Diversity and inclusion come with being a student here and we are encouraged to work with our peers in Life Skills, where we learn to support others and live by our motto ‘The Best by Every Child.’ In addition to our wide range of in-class activities, there are many school trips that provide the opportunity for us to expand our knowledge outside of the classroom environemnt. Kings’ has helped me tremendously throuhgout the years by pushing me out of my comfort zone and encouraging me to be the best version of myself. I am really looking forward to my transition into secondary and what path lies ahead for me.

Hello, my name is Seif and I am the Head Boy at Kings’ School Al Barsha. I joined Kings’ is FS1, 8 years ago, and since then I have developed a strong love of learning. Kings’, provides its students with an extensive curriculum that offers unique learning experiences to all students. The rich extracurricular activity programme gives students opportunities to take part in clubs that enhance their hobbies and interests whilst forming positive relationships with our peers. We are fortunate enough to have teachers and students from around the world teach and learn at our school. I am very proud to be a student at Kings’ as I attend school each day feeling supported by the teachers that care for me. Not only do they help with academics, but wellbeing too. Within our learning experiences, we are encouraged to demonstrate the 7 learning dispositions. We are encouraged as students to demonstrate resilience and take responsibility for our own learning. Because of this, we have grown to be independent learners that seek challenge in all that we do. Kings’ has already given me so many opportunities all of which will contribute to me achieving my dreams. I am so grateful to be a part of this community! .

Kind regards,

Primary Head Girl, Lilia, and Primary Head Boy, Seif.

Welcome to Secondary:

Dear new staff,

My name is Lauren. Leaving Jeddah to come to Dubai, I remember talking to my Year 6 teacher about my fear: a fear of starting again. It has always taken me time to fit in and I didn’t think I would find a home like I had in Saudi. I told her “I am scared I will never be noticed”. Although I was only an 11-year-old, these words were honest and sincere. However, I couldn’t have been more wrong. After spending 6 years at Kings’, I can safely say I have found my place being able to not only “get through school”, but thrive in it too, and I have this school to thank.

Kings’ facilitates student creativity and allows us to create our own opportunities. From students organising their own events, to starting their own businesses, launching societies, or raising money for charity, we are not only part of the community but create it. This is due to our teachers and their unwavering support for each student. Although it sounds cliché, I feel the “best by every child” is a theme that is echoed by every single teacher and their mutual respect for students, going above and beyond.

There is something for everyone, and a space for students to try new things. For me, that was football, which I had never played before joining this school and this year I was awarded Player of the Season. There is somewhere for each student to find their home in a transient and beautiful city. Watching the school grow and expand has been eye opening; it just makes me think about the opportunities that it will bring in the coming years for the new students starting their journey just like I did. I am so excited for you to be a part of it.

I am not sure what the future holds for me, but I know that the guidance I have had from my time at Kings’ has been a privilege and will help pave my path to find my place in the world.

My name is Omar and I have been with Kings’ since Primary school. Whilst a lot of things have certainly changed since then, the core of what makes this school so special to me hasn’t: the teachers and students.

I can honestly say that who I am today is thanks to the incredible impact a number of teachers have had on me, sharing their passion and work ethic, instilling in me a true thirst for knowledge, and opening my eyes to all the possibilities for my future.

Another major aspect of Kings’ has been the extensive range of opportunities that exist at our school. From a plethora of extracurricular programmes, student leadership, and competitive sports opportunities, there’s truly something for everyone to try and pursue. I also believe that the future of our school lies in students actively leading and building these opportunities for others, not solely for merit, but out of passion and kindness, which is a trend I’m happy to have seen grow with every year, with more students and teachers working together to make it possible and bolstering a wider sense of community and inclusion.

The people here have changed my life. I think education is nothing short of magic when done right and I couldn’t be more excited or grateful for the impact you’ll have at Kings’.

Yours sincerely,

Secondary Head Girl, Lauren, and Secondary Head Boy, Omar.
