At Kings’ School Dubai, we follow the National Curriculum for England which we adapt to ensure a conceptual, integrated and enriched learning experience for our young learners. It is important that we contextualise the curriculum so that children understand what they are learning and why, by using the environment around them. Children love learning about things they love, so allowing them ownership over their learning, where appropriate, is critical to their success.
Children are given many opportunities in a range of environments to support their growth and development. This includes academic, sport (both competitive and non-competitive), performance and creative arts, as well as personal challenge and discovery activities, such as residential experiences outside the classroom. It is our role as educators to ensure such opportunities exist that will engage and challenge our children.

At Kings’ School Dubai, we follow the British Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, which revolves around the seven areas of learning: Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Physical Development; Communication and Language; Literacy; Mathematics; Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design. We teach this through a play-based curriculum where children initiate their own ideas and take responsibility for their learning.
We believe that young children learn the skills and knowledge they need for life through play. When children direct their own learning, they figure out things for themselves, take calculated risks and find innovative ways to think about the world and how it works. Children learn to overcome obstacles, solve problems, communicate their needs and feelings effectively and work with those who may have different ideas and points of view. Children use these different spaces to build on their ideas and experiences. Our resources are open ended, reflect real life and are organised to enable children to access them independently. Our teachers and learning assistants are highly skilled at facilitating the children’s learning through observing, questioning and playing alongside, and with the children. Working in this way, the adults are able to gain an accurate picture and can therefore plan their next steps effectively. Children are also given the time and space to reflect on their learning, which supports the children in thinking of new ideas and ways to improve.
